David Frerichs - Minister of Grok
An expert in mobile services, digital content delivery, and IP licensing, is Founder and Minister of Grok for Media Tuners. Prior, Mr. Frerichs was EVP of Strategic Marketing and Corporate Development at SRS Labs, where he initiated their expansion from television into mobile. At Coding Technologies, he started their USA subsidiary and crafted their mobile success in Japan, Korea, and the USA. Strong adoption of Coding Technologies' MPEG-4 HE AAC audio in these markets played its part in the eventual acquisition of Coding Technologies by Dolby Laboratories in 2007. Earlier, as Founder, President, and CTO at iM Networks, he led the curve in 1999 with broadband appliances, content aggregation, and targeted ad insertion, including the development and release of the world's first Internet radio appliance with Philips. Frerichs holds a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign.
John Alfano - Marketing & Strategy
At Apple "between Jobs," Alfano developed publishing markets in the US and Asia Pac and eventually drove product marketing for OS graphics technologies. He managed retail software product marketing for the Cosmo Software division of SGI, launched Health Hero Network, and ran marketing for iM Networks. While in the CNG strategic marketing group at Alcatel, he set the direction for the Alliance program, and worked with MSFT in the early days of IP TV. He's consulted for Pioneer, Apple, HP, and CableLabs. Alfano is also currently a managing partner at Blue Orchid Press. "I'm proudest of the fact that I've managed to get some of my landscape/abstract photography published and even won a few awards. Love my wife and proud as heck of my son. Nice ride so far."
